We are Lauren and Claire, two proud South African Londoners with a keen enthusiasm for seeing as much of the world as possible. Our friendship began back in our home city of Cape Town, where we grew up just a few streets apart. Fast forward many years and we have both ended up living permanently in London, well…just a few streets apart!
It didn’t take us long to realise that we are in fact very compatible travel companions (along with our partners) and end up discussing travel plans more often than not. And there started Just Leave Me There.
Our aim is to provide simple, useful tips and suggestions to help you get the most out of your time travelling. We are all about purposeful, budget-friendly itineraries with a focus on sightseeing, food & drink and an appreciation for the unique flavour of each destination. Our travel style incorporates lots of walking and exploring to get a real feel for the atmosphere of a place, alongside a healthy dose of chill time. As much as we both love getting our trainers on and exploring for hours on end, we are no strangers to a sunlounger and a cocktail either!
While neither of us has a professional background in tourism, we hope that our individual and joint experiences of travel and exploring new places will inspire you, inform you and excite you as you plan your next trip. It’s no secret that we are biased towards South Africa (and particularly Cape Town) being one of the top travel destinations in the world, and part of our mission is to spread the word and encourage more of you to visit our beautiful homeland.
Hopefully this also gives our friends and family all over the world a glimpse into our travel adventures that we so poorly document online.
Claire is in product management and works with businesses in helping them succeed and flourish online. She is a nature lover and 99% committed vegan, as her passion for dairy milk chocolate continues to present an intense moral dilemma. Claire’s love for planning spontaneous trips becomes a lazer focussed operation after two glasses of wine.
Lauren is a secondary school English teacher who loves helping teenagers discover their aspirations and pathways into adult life. When she’s not doing that, she’s plotting her next trip to another country or rounding up friends for social events and gallivants round London. Lauren is also committed to building the life and home her future dog deserves.
